I Simply Remember My Favorite Things...July Edition

So...mini life update, guys.

I drove cross country in three friggen days. Not even exaggerating. No, I wasn't that psycho astronaut who wore diapers on her drive to Florida to catch her cheating husband. But it was close and here's why. Last summer I had my tonsils removed (amongst other things) and thought, 'Yessss this is the best thing ever, I'll never get Strep again!' And all year I celebrated, regularly taking inventory that I would have had Strep God only knows how many times by whatever moment in time it was that I was saying this.

Well, somewhere in New Mexico my ears suddenly were all plugged up and I kept trying to pop them thinking, 'Wow, Albuquerque has some serious elevation...' Not really actually knowing shit about Albequerque's elevation. Within a couple hours my throat was really sore. By the time I arrived in Amarillo, Texas (never go there--sorry Amarillos) I was like, 'This is Strep, I just know it! How?! I got my tonsils out!!' Spoiler alert: you totally can still get Strep even if you've had your tonsils removed. I also was questioning if my elevation thought was completely irrelevant but upon a quick Goggle search I found they actually do have pretty high elevation so my fourth grade teach doesn't need to feel like a failure. In fact, here's a little trivia for you, Albequerque is higher than Denver.

Anyway, Amarillo sucked. I got up at the crack of dawn just to get the hell out of there and drove straight to Memphis, by then I felt like death warmed over. All I wanted was my dog, bed, and bone broth so woke up the following morning and drove the 14 hours from Memphis to South Carolina where it was immediately confirmed I had Strep throat. So basically what I'm trying to tell you is I'm a super hero because I could barely stand up at that point, yet had driven cross country sick as fuck in 3 days. Sans diapers.

The whole point of this is 1. The only thing that kept me going was the thought of my mom pampering me vs being in a shitty Amarillo hotel because I don't care what anyone says, there are no good hotels in Amarillo, and 2. My Favorite Murder.

Which leads to my real reason for telling you all of this (besides wanting it on record that my cousin, who was planning to do the drive with me, will be driving back with me)...

July Favorites!

(no, Amoxicillin did not make the list but should have)

  • My Favorite Murder. Oh my God these girls are funny as hell. On that drive I listened to episode after episode and cracked the fuck up. I not so secretly am obsessed with murder stories too. I had been told by all sorts of people I needed to listen to this Podcast, but Podcast really weren't my thing. 'Sorry,' I'd say. 'I'd rather jam out to music.' Until now. Are you a Murderino? I'm in love. It's part funny, part creepy, and all female power. Stay Sexy. Don't Get Murdered.

  • Bone Broth. I'm like a broken record about this stuff but I don't care. Click here if you've been living under a rock and haven't already read all about it.

  • Hydro Flask Stainless Steel Water Bottle. Guys, this is a game changer. My water stays cold for over 24 hours. Ice doesn't melt for like a day. It's a miracle. They're expensive but so, so worth it. Best beach investment ever.

  • Dry Brushing. If you don't know what I'm talking about, click here. I vowed to do it the entire month of July to see if it actually does anything and now I love it. Has all my cellulite disappeared? Def not. But I love how invigorating it is and my skin is the smoothest it has ever been. I'll be continuing this all of August.

  • Kiss My Face body lotion. If your going to dry brush you really need a good moisturizer. Even if you aren't dry brushing, it's summer and I am loving this one.

  • Nyx lip liner in Orange County and Butter Gloss in Peach Cobbler. They're just perfect summer shades (and a much cheaper dupe for the Armani one I posted on #nationallipstickday)!

  • Bardot Jumpsuit (pictured above). Daytime with sandals or evening with heels, it's a summer staple. And the dusty rose/champagne color is everything!

  • Light Pink nail polish. I have never been that much of a pink girl, and yet I cannot get over this color for summer. It's neutral enough that it goes with everything you wear, and looks chic on both hands and toes...plus won't clash with any of your sandals.

  • Rose gold sunglasses. I had a pair I was so in love with and accidentally left them in an Uber. Usually if I lose something I don't replace it with the same thing because I'm over it by that point and want something new. Not the case with these. I am in love with them and replaced them with the closest ones I could find!

  • The OA and Stranger Things on Netflix. I'm a little late to this party but oh well. My mom and I binge watched these two shows in like 2 weeks! Why does no one care about poor Barbara? Seriously though. #justiceforbarb
